puppy love

So my hubby went up north yesterday to check out the dog breeder that we were interested in getting a pup from. And well...it went great! R said the four-week-old puppies were beyond wonderful, healthy and happy. Such great news!

We have not decided on the pup we plan to take home in a few weeks, nor a name (although we have a few in the running), but we have decided to get a boy.  We hope a boy will be a little easier for Ella to digest rather than another feisty girl. We'll see about that!

Here is some adorable video that R took during his trip to the breeders.  Seeing these little guys in action got me so excited to be a new puppy mom!

i know everyone and their mom is excited about the upcoming launch of the Missoni for Target line that will grace the big red stores across the country next month.  I am too..don't get me wrong...I just also like finding a good look a like with a bit more history when possible.

low and behold..a cute treasure from ETSY. So cute...so Missoni...and so affordable!  This will not really fly in my house, but I think it would be perfect for someone out there. Someone, come on! Buy this cutie.

Life, Love, Lilly

SALE! SALE! SALE!

What a fine time of year...summer sales!  What I love about summer sales is that all the great stuff that most would consider not appropriate for fall, goes on sale.  Living in California, this is such a treat since our summer really lasts until about October.  Hooray!

I love me some Lilly Pulitzer.  Classic. Fresh. Fun.  Her patterns have gotten very mainstream and much more fashion forward in the last two years.  A little Lilly is always a great addition to any closet.

Happy Shopping!

weird??

I love the idea of using this carpenter bag as a big, fab-o handbag for fall. Thoughts?!

wall dressing

As a newlywed and a new home owner, I know it can seem overwhelming trying to decorate your home the way you want on a budget.  But...I am a firm believer that there are amazing copy cats of whatever you may be dreaming of out there.  You just have to look. Sometime extra hard, but that makes the purchase even more fabulous!

We have a ton of wall space in our home that needs some lovin' so I am on the hunt for some great---and affordable--pieces that will brighten up out home without breaking the bank.

Here are some pieces that I have found during my search.  All from Etsy, of course. Some may be coming home with me very soon!

saddle up partner!

Hi all...hope you had a great weekend!

Yesterday my husband and I ventured out of town about 30 minutes to visit a Boot Barn.  Yes, true story.  R is off next month on a 5-day ride on Catalina with some friends so we headed to "the barn" to get him decked and ready for an awesome man trip!

Although I don't live on a ranch nor do I ride horses (sounds fun though!), I do happen to fancy some good ol' fashion western wear.  Used sparingly, I think some western touches are fun additions to any closet and can help each of capture the dream of living in a Ralph Lauren ad (everyone's secret fantasy, right?!)

The trip to BB got me inspired to look for some fun pieces for fall.

get your craft on

I like to consider myself a creative person, but not necessarily a crafty one.  I was thinking about this recently and thought, Hey, you should get your craft on a little more. Cute up something, glue something together...ANYTHING!

As I was browsing the HELLO LUCKY website (a fabulous online stationary store where I purchased all my wedding thank you cards), I came across this adorable book, Handmade Hellos, that gives you helpful hints and tips to make your very own note cards.  Perfectly crafty!  Cards are such a wonderful way to tell someone how you feel or to just make someones day.  They also have a great book, Handmade Weddings, if you are planning on being a crafty and hands-on kinda bride.  Not only a great personal buy but a great gift as well.

Happy cutting, pasting, stamping and glittering to you all.

a dose of you

Monogramming quite possibly could be one of my favorite things.  It is the perfect addition to personal items whether they be clothing, jewelry or home decor.  The key is to not overdue it.  Too much monogramming and you can begin to look a bit ridiculous.  I like to pick a few pieces in my life that clearly call for a monogram. I also love adding my husband and wife initials to goddies around the house like bath towels and bedding.

Here are a few fabulous items to help you add a little more"you" to your life.

Winning in the kitchen

Happy Monday...I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We had a fantastic weekend...one that seemed to go on forever which is always nice.  We celebrated two birthdays on Friday and spent the rest of the weekend vegging out with friends, shopping, and enjoying summer by the pool.  Also, as I promised myself last week, the hubby and I made something we never made before---scary, right?!  But good news...we didn't burn down the kitchen AND it was delicious. Double high five!

I decided to pick two recipes from my favorite gal, Ina Garten.  My mom gave me her wonderful cookbook, How Easy Is That?!  Which I really have enjoyed.  So here is what we dined on....

Cous Cous with Pine Nuts

Panko Encrusted Salmon

How good does that look? And trust me..it was. And easy!  I had never made Cous Cous before but I'm officially addicted. So quick and impossible to mess up.

Like I've mentioned before, I am not the best cook and it frankly kind of scares me, but I'm trying to get the hang of it in hopes to be half as good as my mom is one day.  It was definitely fun trying something new and couldn't have done it without the help of R.  Great husband and great cook. I win!

Shades of Blue

There is nothing I love more than the color blue. Blue in my closet...blue for the home. done and done!  The color just makes me happy, reminds me of my homes growing up, and also has such a relaxing feeling to it.  I love when people mix up their shades of blue and find special ways to incorporate blue into their homes.

Here are some amazing blue-inspired-rooms I found while trolling the Internet for inspiration for our home.  From small touches to loads of it...blue always is a winner in my book.

if you are headed to Denmark....

would you mind picking me up a few of these?! Oh boy...in love!  These amazing block print pillows (and fabric)  come from a company called BUNGALOW which is based out of Denmark and does not ship to the U.S. yet. (insert sad face)

I just love all the pretty patterns and colors.  They look like they belong in a fabulous cozy home in Santa Barbara.  Let's add these to the want list!
